Wilhelm Tell Festival
A New Glarus Labor Day weekend tradition since 1938
Join us as our community continues its 70-year tradition of telling the story of how Wilhelm Tell, his crossbow, and an apple helped Switzerland gain independence from the Habsburg tyrant, Herman Gessler. The story was told by the famous 18th century German playwright Friedrich Schiller. See and hear how frisky goats, mooing cows, and whinnying horses bring the story to life on the natural outdoor stage to create a unique theatrical experience.

Es ist nicht nötig nach Interlaken in der Schweiz zu fahren, um Schiller's Wilhelm Tell zu besuchen. Schon seit 1938 präsentiert das Volk von New Glarus und Umgebung jährlich dieses Spiel auf Deutsch! Kommen Sie dieses Jahr mit ihrer Familie und ihren Freunden und erleben Sie das Freilichtspiel wie Schiller sich es wohl vorgestellt hat. Geniessen Sie das Spiel im Freien unter schattigen Bäumen. Die deutsche Vorstellung ist am Samstag, dem 1. September, 2007. Sie sind immer herzlich Willkommen in New Glarus, aber Vergessen werden Sie es nie!
